The Demon Who Loved Me

He’s a gambling man…One brunette bombshell with a devious mind and a potty mouth has thrust Kent smack dab in the middle of where he never wanted to be—his family. He’s spent most of his life avoiding his familial responsibilities, especially the one that required him to join the Ninth Circle Council—the demon society’s equivalent of judge, jury, and executioner. Then one...

I really loved that and he is so loyal and underestimated or more exactly we don't even give him a chance to show how he is really.

Chloe also hide her real personality under lot of appearance and prefer to let people think what they want if that means they are underestimating her....but if what stranger think doesn't count she suffers that her own family doesn't see more deeply under her cover.

I loved to see a bit more about Elena and Gage even if what we see this time just lead to more questions than answer ( though i wonder if Chloe's action isn't for something in that)anyway we get a lot of answers, some more question, the eternal cliffhanger...

The only thing that bothered me a little was the language, a little isn't bad but Chloe and Kent together that sure change the level of the series so far....i wasn't that happy either that started going together simply for a bed or frustration..... i don't mind steamy when it's meaningful but at the beginning it's not really the case as they don't trust each other and have something to prove...that disappointed me little and no matter how intelligent Chloe is, and it's sure she is a good match for Kent, i still have difficulty to appreciate her.

Really a good series, we want more off

OMG FINALLY! I have been not-so-patiently waiting for Kent's book for what seems like forever! Lol But let me just say... It was soooo worth the wait! Once again the fabulous Jessie Lane has cemented her status as one of my all time TOP favorite authors! As well as being my first. To stalk that is! ;) That's right folks. The amazing Ms. Lane was the one and only that I 'got my feet wet' in my author stalking. I fell in love with her paranormal world with Big Bad Bite and then again in Walk on the Striped Side. I have loved these characters for years and Kent was one I couldn't wait to read about. So you can only imagine my ecstatic-ness for getting the opportunity for an ARC!

One thing I want to say right off, it's been a while since I have visited this world and since I didn't have time to do rereads of the aforementioned books, I was a little worried I might have forgotten some details which would make me sad. However, the great thing about JL, is that she seemed prepared for this and any details I might have needed were provided in mini recaps. :) Anyhoots... Kent is a hot as hell (hee hee) demon who is also Jenna's (BBB) SWAT partner. He's known to be a ladies man and not real open about his powers. In the beginning we go back a little to when he initially meets Chloe at the bar (a scene from WOTSS) and is basically struck dumb. Chloe is quite the woman. She takes no sh*t and is very stubborn and headstrong. Just what Kent needs! :)

The bare bones of the plot is a continuation from WOTSS, where Gage's sister has been accused of murder. Chloe takes it upon herself to try to clear her name. Meanwhile, Kent is also working on that as well as trying to get behind the walls Chloe has erected around herself. The back and forth between these two was hilarious and filled with so much chemistry, I couldn't wait for their explosion! Chloe comes from a long line of Amazons, and she doesn't need a man. Or so she tries to tell herself. It was funny and sometimes frustrating to see her and Kent circling each other. I half wanted to cheer her on for making him work for it and half wanted to smack her and tell her to give in already! They were perfect for each other and as far as working the case, they made a great team.

Loaded with hilarious dialogue, some intrigue and sexual chemistry, The Demon Who Loved Me had me hooked from page one. I devoured it! I love this world and JL's writing and I LOVED this book! There was even a little bit of a setup for a novella (I think) for the next book. I honestly can't wait for that! And I also hope she plans a book for a certain other demon on the council.... *hint hint* ;)

Overall, this book was an awesomesauce addition to the series! I look forward to whatever Ms. Lane has in store for us next!

The Demon Who Loved Me is the latest instalment in one of my favourite paranormal series. It’s been a long time coming but was well worth the wait. Kent is a demon who has spent his life ignoring pressure from his family to take his rightful seat at the Ninth Circle Council. The Demon Who Loved Me is the latest instalment in one of my favourite paranormal series. It’s been a long time coming but was well worth the wait. Kent is a demon who has spent his life ignoring pressure from his family to take his rightful seat at the Ninth Circle Council. He lives his life on his own terms as a SWAT Team officer & is steadily working his way through the female population in Wilmington. He is content with his life until one day a rash bet he made with Chloe Demos comes back to bite him.

Chloe is the oldest of the Demos sisters. After her mother’s death, she finds out that she & her two sisters are actually descended from ancient Amazons and decides it’s time to stop acting the part of the empty-headed bimbo and use her intelligence working for the family detective firm Amazons Inc Her first step is to clear her new sister in law of the trumped-up murder charges she’s facing at the hands of the Demon Council which is where her bet with Kent comes in. In order to fulfil his side of the bargain he has to take his place on the Council. There is plenty of chemistry between Chloe & Kent and the sparks definitely fly. Neither are looking for a relationship of any kind, however who are they to fight against fate.

This book does cover some of the action from the previous novels in the Big Bad Bite series but it was interesting to see it from different perspectives. The plot moves at a steady pace with lots of humour with a hint at upcoming heartbreak for some of the characters. The confrontations between Chloe & Kent are definitely hot. The family dynamics between Chloe & her sisters are realistic as well – Chloe doesn’t miss a chance to wind them but God help anyone else who tries to hurt them. I read this book in one afternoon but this is a series I will happily read again while eagerly awaiting the next instalment

I was super excited for this book to come out, had a countdown until it released and everything. Sadly though, this book just didn't wow me like I hoped it would. I was super excited for this book to come out, had a countdown until it released and everything. Sadly though, this book just didn't wow me like I hoped it would. The plot dragged and I found myself continuing to read it just to get it over with. Chloe and Kent didn't have enough scenes together to really build chemistry and create a believable spark between the two. A lot of their conversations were over a phone call. The mystery was so straightforward and simple a monkey could've figured it out. Aside from the two sexy scenes (two?!) there wasn't any action, violent or otherwise, in this book. The big mystery was solved and wrapped up in a neat little bow all in a few pages, no angst, no fighting, and no sitting-on-edge-of-seat-biting-nails-in-anticipation feeling. It just...lacked.

Kent was the main reason I continued to read. Aside from him being a gorgeous alpha male, he also cares about Chloe and goes out of his way to protect her and spend time with her. He sees past her pinup body and supposedly empty brain to the cunning and smart woman she is. He joined the Ninth Circle Council for her, something he has been dreadfully avoiding for decades. You can't get a much better man than that.

I found myself not really liking Chloe, which is just heartbreaking. I tried I really did, but she just came across as shallow. She would act like Barbie then get upset when people labeled her as such and didn't look deeper. Like really? If you don't want to be known as the girl who's not good for anything besides a shopping buddy and a tumble in bed, try not acting the part. I get that she was hurt in the past, but acting like an airhead 24/7 then expecting people to assume you're more is unrealistic and unfair. Although she does care deeply for her sisters and is loyal to a fault, so that's something in her favor.

All in all, the book was just a 3 star read. 1 star for some pretty good steamy sex scenes, even though there were only two, 1 star alone for Kent, and 1 star for having some pretty funny moments between Chloe and Elena. The book had its moments, but fell short in a lot of scenes, causing it to flop.

Kent does have a string of one night stands with a cut off of just three nights. Kent is looking for commitment until he meets Chloe. But can he convince her that he is the man for her.

"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

Although a demon, Kent does have a little animal side to him, "with his threat delivered, Kent stalked out and off the boat with an angry Amazon over his shoulder, screeching like a banshee, “My *** is showing, you moron!” I liked this book, Kent was persistent and Chloe was a ball of fire.

Cop, manwhore, demon. Those are all things that Kent has been called. While he doesn’t necessarily like manwhore, he does have to admit that he has a thing for the ladies. That is what has landed him in his current predicament. How could one simple bet have him breaking his rules and taking on the one thing that he has never wanted? Oh yeah, because that bet is to Chloe Demos, the Amazon that is currently making his overheated blood run even hotter. What is the best way to get a demon interested

That is what has landed him in his current predicament. How could one simple bet have him breaking his rules and taking on the one thing that he has never wanted? Oh yeah, because that bet is to Chloe Demos, the Amazon that is currently making his overheated blood run even hotter. What is the best way to get a demon interested? Act completely unfazed and slightly condescending. Or that seems to be the way that Chloe has gotten his attention.

Chloe has a hard time trusting, but she does rely on her instincts. And those instincts are screaming that the case she and her sisters are part of is a setup. Someone is trying to make a young tigress pay for a death that Chloe doesn’t believe she committed, and the only way to make sure that she gets a fair trial is to call in the winnings of a bet that she placed with the arrogant and dangerously sexy Kent. No matter what he does, or says, he infuriates and attracts her in equal measure. She doesn’t have time for a man that she wants to strangle one minute and take to bed the next. But a life is on the line, so she can strangle him after they save it. Win, win!

THE DEMON WHO LOVED ME was hilarious! I swear Jessie Lane can create some of the kookiest and lovable characters out there. I laughed numerous times throughout this story (spider!) and loved every second the interaction between Kent and Chloe. Poor Kent was getting shafted before even doing anything, but he did tend to open his big mouth without thinking. Luckily, he had Chloe to put him right back in line. I have read every story of the Big Bad Bite series and this book fits in swimmingly with the antics and intrigue that runs throughout the series. Danger, racy comments, and slapstick routines? Check, check, and CHECK! A winner in my book.

A sexy paranormal romance with a taste of suspense, and a lot of intrigue…

Jessie Lane is a new author for me, and this was my first book by this author. I was captivated and enthralled by the blurb, and the handsome cover hooked me and reeled me in. The Demon Who Loved Me is the third installment in the Big Bad Bite series. Although it was part of a series, the book wasn’t difficult to follow, or get into the storyline. This book follows Chloe Demos, one of three amazonian sisters. Chloe is big on designer fashion, snark and sarcasm, and teaching men a lesson. Determined to help clear the name of her sister-in-law, Chloe digs herself neck deep in her own investigation, and she isn’t afraid to call in favors owed to get what she wants. Kent is tall, dark, and gorgeous…and he has his eyes on Chloe. A police officer by day, Kent holds skills that Chloe can use to her advantage, but it’s his heritage that she needs to close the case. As a full fledged demon, and a blue bloodline, it’s Kent’s ability to take a seat on the ominous Ninth Circle Council that Chloe really needs. The question is, will they be able to deny the attraction between them, or will this connection lead to more than just a case?

The Demon Who Loved Me is a fun romp with demons, amazons, vampires, and shifters. My first love is paranormal romance, and this sounded like a great adventure into that world. I did enjoy the story very much, the plot and storyline not totally unique, but different enough to catch my attention and hold it. I did love the snarky and sassy attitude that Chloe and her sisters threw off, as well as the soft and sweet side they hid from the world. Kent held his own with the sassy amazon, though he did get schooled once or twice. I enjoyed their banter, and their obvious attraction. Though I loved and adored the characters, and the idea of their story, there were several things that left me a bit cold. The storyline jumped around quite a bit, and often seemed on fast forward. Many important details were glossed over, or skipped completely, and Chloe and Kent really didn’t interact much at all. Not as much as I thought they would to create the kind of breathtaking chemistry they had. I think this is a great series with amazing characters, and plenty of potential for epic storylines…I just think we need a little more of the story…a little more development of the characters…and a bit more burn to the passion. All in all, I enjoyed the characters and the story enough to continue the series, and even go back to the previous installments.
